So I finally got to see Kate's beautiful engagement ring in person! Yay! It's so excting! I'm so honoured to be in her wedding party. I know how most people say it's not an honour but for me it is. I don't care about the expense and all the rest of it. I'm just so happy for her and so honoured that she wants me up there with her to support her.
So we had a little time to stay up chatting Saturday night but we had to go to bed at a decent hour cause Kate and Stu were hosting a Lord of the Rings Extended Edition movie marathon! Yay!
So Stu's Mom Fran is an amazing cook and she made us pancakes with fresh fruit for breakfast! Absolutely fabulous! At about 10am Stu and Kate's friends Lisa and Joe arrived for the party. They were the only ones who came for the WHOLE marathon. Which was great. Lisa is going to be Kate and Stu's MC and Joe is one of Stu's groomsmen. They are really great people. We had a blast with them making funny commentary throughout the movie. Every so often one of us would say something humourous when a character onscreen would pause with a serious/contemplative look. It really broke up the length of the whole thing.
We would pause when we would reach the end of disc 1 and then at the end of a movie to eat. At the end of disc one of Fellowship of the Ring we had bagels and cream cheese. Yummy. Haven't had that in a LONG time. At the end of Fellowship Kate and Lisa made popcorn. At the halfpoint of Two Towers we took a beverage break and at the end of Two Towers was dinner! It was a collection of homemade lasagna and take out from Kate's Pan-Asian restaurant. Double yum! Hello spring rolls and malaysian rice! For desert was Fran's famous and 'deadly' pavlova! MMMMMMmmmmmm! Yeah we all agreed that the Pavolova was our 'Ring of Power' which any of us would kill for just to have more!
About a quarter of the way into Two Towers Kate's friend Jeff Pike arrived. And then a little later Kate's ex-roomate and other bridesmaid Tammy came. Tammy left shortly into Return of the King and Kate's sister Ann arrived a quarter of the way into Return of the King.
The marathon concluded at 11pm. Which wasn't bad at all. I thought it would feel really long but it wasn't at all. The good food and conversation of friends made it a great event! I almost didn't want it to end. It was kind of weird to be sitting in that chair first thing in the morning and then last thing in the evening watching the light through the window fade.
We had a blast though! I already filled my first digital camera card. But that's ok cause I can download them onto Stu's computer and he can burn me a CD at the end of the week!
I took a picture at the beginning of the marathon and then one at the end. Due to technical problems with the focussing of my camera I used Stu's camera to take a better picture at the end. In fact he already put it online for everyone to get!

After everyone went home Stu, Fran, Kate and I played Lord of the Rings monopoly to finish off the day! That's a cool game! It moves faster than regular monopoly becuase the ring sits on the board and every time you roll the ring symbol on the dice it moves forward one space. The game ends when the ring reaches the Go space again. So it keeps the game from dragging on forever! :)
Well today is a new day and I have NO idea what the two of us will do! Wander downtown TO maybe?
